Main Scripture: 1 John 4:4-11,19
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. We love Him because He first loved us.

Walking in Love, Pt.4 – Matthew 22:39
- Agape – the special unconditional love of God; often called God-like love or biblical love; meaning to love the understanding, despite disappointment and rejection.
- Biblical love has God as its object, true motivator, and source (cf. 1 John 4:7-8)
- Love is not based on emotions or feelings. It is a decision to be committed to the well-being of others without any conditions or circumstances.
- God’s agape love is in us through the Holy Spirit (cf. Romans 5:5)
- Love God, love our neighbor, love yourself (cf. Matthew 22:35-40)
- Love Upward – Loving God with your whole being
- Love Outward – Loving everyone as much as we love ourselves
- Love Inward – Loving your body and soul
- “Little children (believers, dear ones), let us not love [merely in theory] with word or with tongue [giving lip service to compassion], but in action and in truth [in practice and in sincerity, because practical acts of love are more than words]” (1John 3:18 AMP)
- Love is:
- Patient
- Kind
- Encouraging, genuinely happy for others
- Humble
- Mannerly
- Self-sacrificing
- Slow to anger
- Forgiving
- Rejoicing in the truth
- Bearing all things
- Believe all things, the best in every person
- Hopeful
- Enduring
- Everlasting
- Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself, treating people the way you want to be treated.
Loving Yourself
- Man is a three-part being:
- SPIRIT – Was saved at salvation, has been renewed
- SOUL: Mind, Emotions, WILL
- BODY: Flesh, Brain, SIN
