March 8, 2026 – Effective Prayer: Alignment, Part 4

Fresh Start Christian Church
Topic: Peace and Favor

Main Scripture: Romans 8:31-39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Effective Prayer: Alignment, Part 4  Proverbs 3:5-6

  • Communicating with God
  • “the divinely authorized means to access the kingdom of heaven and to get that kingdom to intervene in the affairs of our earthly life” ~ Tony Evans
  • Effective Prayer includes: Alignment, Relationship, Faith, Confession, Persistence
  • Will (Hebrew: thelo) – to wish, to desire, to have, to want, to purpose; (Greek: diatheka) – covenant
  • God’s Will is His Word
    • Logos (Written Word) – Bible
    • Rhema (Spoken Word) – Preaching, Prophesy, Godly counsel, God’s utterance, or Holy Spirit unction
  • We have to study the Word (logos) and become intimate with His voice (rhema)
  • The written Word provides overarching principles, promises, and truths that we can rely on and use in our prayers.
    • Victory (1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 2:14)
    • Provisions (Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:33)
    • Healing (James 5:14-15; 3John 2; Isaiah 53:5)
    • Protection (Isaiah 54:17; Psalm 91)
    • Wisdom/Guidance (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • The Spoken Word gives us greater insight into God’s Will and God’s Way.
  • Our ways must acknowledge God so He can show us His way.
  • In everything we should desire God’s Way and not our way because His ways are:
    • Justice (Deuteronomy 32:4)
    • Perfect (2 Samuel 22:31)
    • Higher (Isaiah 55:8-9)
  • We CAN and we SHOULD ask God to show us HIS WAY in our prayer and lives. (Psalm 25:4-5, 9-10; Psalm 27:11)

Assignment: Find scripture in alignment with your prayer petitions to pray. Select a petition and write out a prayer regarding it utilizing the scriptures. Ask God to show you His way.

Additional Scriptures: Isaiah 43:26, Isaiah 55:11, Numbers 23:19, John 10:27, 1 John 5:14-15, Proverbs 16:9,
